United Methodist Seminaries, Annual Conferences, Archives, Libraries, Historical Societies, and General Agencies – Special Offer During 2024:

⇒  Choose 2 of the most important audio programs you still have on audiotape and sitting on shelves. Send those tapes to us and we’ll digitize them at no cost. (We want to be sure they are preserved.)

⇒ Choose additional taped programs you need digitized. We’ll process them at $35 each. This is a special offer during the year 2024 to digitize as much of this audio as possible.

⇒ Use the form on this page to let us know of your interest. We’ll coordinate with you.

⇒ Package your tapes and send them to us. See: How to Send Tapes

When you send tapes to us, we will:

  1. examine your tapes to be sure they are in condition to be played. Most are good, some are repairable. But if you wait too long, the tape will deteriorate and the program will be lost.  What can destroy audio tapes?
  2. digitize your tapes on high-quality playback machines and create WAV digital audio files.
  3. save the original digital files, then process the audio for best listening quality, and also save those WAV digital files.
  4. create and save MP3 digital audio files that can be used online.
  5. If appropriate and allowed, add the audio programs to the collection online at SoundTheology.org.
  6. USB Thumb Drivereturn your tapes and all files to you on a USB thumb drive or a portable hard drive.
  7. provide the files and metadata to the United Methodist General Council on Archives and History for preservation.
